UPOV Genera and Species Database (GENIE database)

Your source of UPOV codes serving as unique crop identifiers to address the challenge of having different synonyms for the same plant taxon.

What is GENIE?

The GENIE database provides online information on GENera and specIEs (GENIE) in relation to plant variety protection offered by UPOV members. This database includes details on DUS (Distinctiveness, Uniformity and Stability) testing as well as available UPOV Test Guidelines.
As the official repository of all UPOV Codes, GENIE addresses the challenge of having different synonyms for the same plant taxon. Each taxon is assigned a unique code, ensuring that all synonyms are attributed the same UPOV code.

These codes enhance the usefulness of the UPOV Plant Variety Database (PLUTO Database), allowing users to search for crops, regardless of the language and alphabet used by different data contributors.

This is the first item’s accordion body. It is shown by default, until the collapse plugin adds the appropriate classes that we use to style each element. These classes control the overall appearance, as well as the showing and hiding via CSS transitions. You can modify any of this with custom CSS or overriding our default variables. It’s also worth noting that just about any HTML can go within the .accordion-body, though the transition does limit overflow.
