Yes. The applicant will receive a standard confirmation of receipt of the application by post or through the e-filing system of the PVP Office (Sakpatenti).
If the variety has already undergone a DUS test in another country, sample materials are not required. The applicant will have to provide the sample materials to the Georgian DUS testing authority, if no previous DUS test results are available. Contact details will be provided by the PVP Office (Sakpatenti) at a later stage.
When relevant, the applicant shall provide sample materials to the Georgian DUS testing authority within 2 weeks from the publication of the plant variety application in the Official Bulletin.
Currently there is no national application fee for the processing of a new plant variety application at Sakpatenti.

An agent or local representative is not mandatory; however, it is highly recommended that you be represented by a Georgian patent attorney.

The application shall be deemed filed with Sakpatenti on the day of the submission of the following documents:
- application form;
- proposed denomination of the new plant variety;
- description of the new plant variety.

Applications may be submitted at any time. See “Plant Material” section for more information, when plant material is required.
- Where the application is filed by a representative, a document certifying the representation authority shall be filed within 1 month from the filing date.
- Where the application is filed by a successor in title, a document certifying the successor’s status shall be filed within 1 month from the filing date.
- If the plant variety was filed in another Contracting Party, a certified copy of the first application and its translation into Georgian shall be provided.
- If the plant variety is protected in another Contracting Party, a certified copy of the official documents confirming the breeder's right issued by the competent authority of the respective country and its translation into Georgian shall be filed within 2 months from the filing date.
