For non-residents, a paper copy of the application (Pdf document generated after submission of application data in UPOV PRISMA) should be transmitted by the agent/ local representative to the PVP Office (see Section “agent/ local representative”).
Yes, the receipt of the paper format of the documents will be confirmed by an acknowledgement of receipt.
When applicable, the PVP Office will indicate where the plant material should be sent.
- The PVP Office will provide details to the applicant (according to protocols) when, where and in what quantity and quality the required plant material should be delivered, for examination purposes.
- Applicants who submit material from a foreign country must submit documents that all customs and phytosanitary formalities have been fulfilled.
- The plant material provided must have a healthy appearance and good vigor or not be affected by major diseases or pests.
- Plant material must be exempt from any treatment that affects the expression of the variety's characteristics, unless otherwise authorized or expressly requested by the PVP Office. If it has been treated, the treatment applied should be indicated in detail.

Yes, the receipt of the paper format of the documents, including payment, will be confirmed by an acknowledgement of receipt.
Any person who does not have a domicile, principal place of business or establishment in Dominican Republic may only be party to proceedings initiated in conformity with the Law and may assert the rights obtained on that basis, if the person has a legal representative with domicile or with permanent office in the Dominican Republic. The legal representative shall be authorized to represent the relevant person in all matters related to the protection of plant varieties (Art. 6 of Law 450-06).
The filing date will be assigned when the electronic version and the paper format of the application have been received by the PVP Office and the payment of the application fee has been made(Art. 7 a)ii) and iii) of Regulation 108-15).
Upon acceptance of the application, a filing number and the filing date will be assigned and recorded on each sheet of the paper application submitted (Art. 11 of Regulation 108-15).

There are no deadlines for submission of applications in Dominican Republic. Applications may be submitted at any time.

Power of attorney for the representative is required.
When the application is made, if the documentation is incomplete or does not comply with requirements, the applicant shall be requested to correct it within no more than thirty (30) working days, counted from the date of receipt of the application. Any application that has not been corrected during the time allowed shall be archived by means of a decision of which the applicant shall be notified (Art. 11, para. III of Regulation 108-15).
The filing date will be given when the complete documentation is received by the PVP Office and the payment of the application fee is made. If it is considered incomplete, a deadline to correct it will be given by the PVP Office.
